Momentum Manufacturing Group Invests in Additional State-of-the-Art Tube Laser
Momentum Manufacturing Group (MMG), one of the top ten largest metal manufacturers in North America, announced it has purchased a TRUMPF TruLaser 7000 system to cut heavy, thicker-walled metal tubes and bars more efficiently. The new machine will be operational in October and enhance MMG’s metal machining and fabrication operation in Amherst, NH, which currently houses two AMADA flat laser cutting systems.
“We purchased a TRUMPF TruLaser 5000 system in 2018 for our Lyndonville, VT, facility. Due to strong customer demand and the addition of aluminum extrusion manufacturing to our company, we reached that machine’s capacity within two years,” said Steve Gore, COO at Momentum Manufacturing Group. “The addition of the TRUMPF TruLaser 7000 will enable us to handle heavier, thicker, and longer tubes in a variety of materials, greatly enhancing the capabilities of our Southern operations.”
Thanks to its solid-state laser, the TruLaser Tube 7000 fiber can handle a wide range of materials, from mild steel and stainless steel to non-ferrous metals. TRUMPF has increased the maximum loading weight to 40 kilograms per meter and boosted the laser power from four to six kilowatts, allowing the new machine to cut even heavier, thicker-walled tubes than before. The TruLaser Tube 7000 fiber can process round and rectangular tubes with diameters up to 10 inches and lengths up to 30 feet.
The purchase continues the company’s commitment to investing in new technologies for greater efficiency and quality.
“We are committed to helping our customers reduce their production costs and time to market while improving overall product quality and consistency,” noted Gore. “Investing in advanced manufacturing technologies, like the TRUMPF TruLaser, helps us deliver on that commitment.”
In the last five years, MMG has invested over $50 million in new equipment to advance its manufacturing business. The company maintains an extensive manufacturing infrastructure in nine facilities across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont providing a broad range of metal fabrication, precision machining, aluminum extrusion manufacturing, finishing, and assembly services.
