Momentum Manufacturing Group (MMG), a strategic metal manufacturing partner, announced completion of phase one of capacity expansion at its NH-based aluminum extrusion division, Vitex Extrusion. The initial $13.5 million investment centered on the installation of a 2,920-ton, 8-inch extrusion line made by Italy-based Presezzi Extrusion Group. The new extrusion line provides fully automated operation and will double annual output to 55 million pounds of custom aluminum profiles.

Construction is currently underway for phase two of the extrusion capacity expansion project, which will extend in-line automation to include rack movement, post extrusion aging and packaging, and add 35,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

“We’re excited to begin production on the new extrusion line,” said Andrew Curland, president of Vitex Extrusion. “Demand for custom extruded profiles from new and existing customers has surged since the pandemic and the new line will help us address this demand.”

The $23 million total investment to expand and modernize its aluminum extrusion business is a key component of MMG’s growth strategy to increase use of automation and state-of-art technologies in all its metal manufacturing locations. Currently, the company operates nine facilities with 24/7 lights-out operations across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

“The new extrusion line is an important part of our plan to expand capabilities to support new and existing customers,” said Jim Moroney, CEO of Momentum Manufacturing Group. “As many industries see demand for their products surge, new technologies and automation help us deliver the efficiencies and shorter turnaround times manufacturers need to meet demand.”
